Nuzzles

Each winter, Winnipeg hosts the Warming Huts competition, inviting designers to create playful shelters along the city’s frozen river. Among them, Nuzzles challenged the idea of the traditional hut by remaining open to the elements while still offering a sense of protection.

Made from brightly colored pool noodles, their furry, flexible forms insulate by trapping warm air and stand out vividly against the snow. Both sculptural and interactive, the Nuzzles invite children and adults alike to climb, jump, and curl into their embrace—transforming the river into a site of warmth, play, and shared delight.
