Striptease

Upon entering the 2012 Interior Design Show in Toronto, visitors were greeted with a monumental curtain made of 1,300 strips of felt, animated with an interactive light display. To craft this dramatic central installation, RAW sorted through 1,800 kilograms of the industrial material – a byproduct of giant polishing machines – assembling it on cable frames. The 15-metre-long strips were then suspended on the three levels of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Onto this tactile waterfall, an interactive lighting display by Christie Digital projected colour and movement, while visitors could also see their shadows beaming onto it.
